Nuclear Physics Day 2026

Thank you again for registering for Nuclear Physics Day (NPD) 2026! The following contains important information regarding planning and logistics for NPD on April 21st, 2026.

NPD Prep Webinar – April 16th at 12pm

Everyone should be receiving an invite shortly for a virtual prep webinar we’ll be holding on Thursday, April 16th, at 12pm Eastern (11am Central; 10am Mountain; 9am Pacific) to prepare for our meetings on Capitol Hill. We’ll walk through this year’s ask for NPD, discuss talking points, and answer any questions you might have prior to the 21st. Please plan to attend if you are available! Note: if you are unable to make the 16th, this webinar will be recorded and sent out to everyone immediately afterwards, and we’ll have time on the 21st for additional prep before our meetings.

Logistics for April 21st

Prior to the 21st, we will be sending everyone an agenda for NPD with log-in instructions to view your meeting schedules for the 21st. Generally, everyone can expect to spend the full day on Capitol Hill, from around 8am – 4pm. We will be setting up meetings with your lab/institution’s two Senators and Representative, so please be prepared for walking around the Hill on the 21st.

In case it is helpful for travel/lodging purposes, we plan to start our day with a whole-group breakfast and prep session at 8am in 2325 Rayburn House Office Building. We will then transition to Hill meetings for the rest of the day, similar to last year’s schedule. This will all be covered in your agenda for the 21st and prep webinar.

Cancellations

Finally, please be sure to let the NPD planning team or your user group lead know if you do not plan to attend NPD in-person in Washington, DC on April 21st, or if your travel plans change. We want to be sure to keep staffers updated and avoid any conflicts on the 21st.
Stay tuned for additional schedule information next week but let us know if any questions come up! Feel free to contact our planning team at mgrady@bosepublicaffairs.com and j.carter@bosepublicaffairs.com

Dear Colleagues,

Nuclear physics research needs your help once more.

Over the next several weeks, Washington will start the budget and appropriations process for Fiscal Year 2027.  In what is expected to be a very challenging budget year, we are reaching out to the entire nuclear physics community to ask for your advocacy* in support of robust federal funding for nuclear physics.  Nuclear Physics Day will also be an opportunity to further educate Congress on the future direction of the nuclear physics field as laid out in the Nuclear Science Advisory Committee’s most recent Long Range Plan.  Research leaders from the NP User Facilities at Michigan State, Jefferson Lab, Brookhaven National Lab, and others are organizing a day of in-person meetings on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on Tuesday, April 21st and urgently need your participation.

A background briefing will be provided in advance of the April meetings and our team will oversee the scheduling and organizing the meetings with your representatives in Congress.  This opportunity is open to past participants and new members alike – faculty and students.  We welcome and encourage everyone’s participation.  Stay tuned for additional details and supporting materials.

Please let us know if you can join and support this important federal advocacy effort by registering here: https://forms.gle/TycGJgMNBiX7Pmq59
